Samsung refusing to Pay Compensation on Galaxy Note 7 Owners

Galaxy Noted 7 has long been recalled from the market however, owners of the phone who experienced the dangers firsthand from this unit are far from being relieved.

John Barwick is one of the Note 7 owners who was awoken in the middle of the night by his Note 7 bursting into flames on his nightstand. The fire caused by the smartphone damaged the nightstand, his bed, curtains and carpet. The damage is calculated to be around $9,000! Barwick says that Samsung is unwilling to pay for the damage amount.

This is from The Guardian.

“Barwick claims he called the company 45 minutes after the fire started and Samsung said they’d call back within 24 hours. When they failed to do so, Barwick called them again and emailed pictures of the damaged phones. “They said they’d call us back. They never did.”

Eventually Barwick received a call from Samsung, and was referred to the South Korean firm’s insurance company, Samsung Fire & Marine.

“They told me they weren’t going to pay replacement costs of any damaged items. We were asking to have our carpet replaced, and to have the goods that were sprayed on replaced. We sent them photos,” he said. Instead, Samsung offer to pay a depreciated value of the items.

Samsung’s recall for the Note 7s is a huge move from them. A lot of complaints are still being reported. One Note 7 owner even lost his house due to the Note 7’s exploding defect. You can read full story here.
