We all know that we need to make backups of our data. We have pictures, documents, songs nd many other crucial documents that you have to protect. Your data is constantly under the risk of getting lost and if that happens there won’t be much that can be done to recover it.

Many people don’t know how to back up their computer or ways in which it can be done so I will be looking at some today.

There are thousands of ways in which you can back up your computer but I will only be looking at a few.

1. CDs/DVDs

CDs/DVDs Backups 4 Ways How to Backup?Although many of us have now moved on, onto USB’s and digital media cd’s and DVD’s are still a safe physical location to store your data.

They are cheap and are a great way to store data as long as you remember to keep them safe and label them.

When backing up your data to disc remember to check for write errors as we don’t want to have made a corrupted backup. Try to use slower write speeds such as 4X as this will increase the chances of a good write.


2. The cloud

Your data will be kept encrypted and far away so it’s not prone to any natural disasters that could happen at your location.

Cloud storage is the easiest and safest way to back up your data as most of them do all the work for you so there’s no hassle.


3. USB Flash Drives

Although most are pretty reliable sometimes they can fail without warning and this is something that has happened to me however it can still be used as a second or third backup.

Bearing this in mind however external drives are my second favorite method of backing up data after cloud storage as its fast and easy to do.

You can also take the drive with you if you need to transfer files to an area without internet although that is becoming increasingly rare.
